Spark plug could be bad, check to make sure your tires look good, and if that doesn't work, you could have an expensive problem :(

Ok there is two engines that could be in it. Im going to bet its the v6 3.8L.... That motor is famous to blow its headgaskets. Due to the block being Cast Iron and heads aluminum. The only option is to tear apart the top part of the motor and replace and headgaksets you could lost compression in one or more cylinders. I had an exact same engine where it did blew its headgasket. you can even google the 3.8L ford engine and read on the blown headgaskets. the ford taurus is affected the cougar and windstar are included. before replace the gaskets have a compression check done on all cylinders the other thing it could be if is not that is the ignition module there was a recall on those too. If its the v8 engine which is in a few cars check the ignition module and cap and rotor for both engines. If the engine light is on have someone pull the trouble codes for you and go from there.

If you're speaking about the engine, all this was done, and it runs exactly the same, you have an intake leak, a fuel injectors that are blocked, or a rocker arm that fell off the camshaft. Injector cleaner from a parts house is not worth a damn. You might have an injector plug-in that's bad or a bad computer.

Get the fuel filter changed, this could be causing poor fuel flow, and giving you the shaking.
Another way to tell is if you put your foot hard on the gas, and it kind of coughs, then you have a fuel flow issue.
