I'm a psychologist and am dealing with many patients about this right now. Simply stop!!!! There's nothing else you can do. Limit your online sessions to 1-2 hours and at the most 2 times a day. Enjoy the real things in life that you can really benefit from. There is no way to 'go about changing' you must simply stop and reward yourself when you stop going online so much. Hope this helps!

Hello Makingtime,
I am the same way when it comes to the net. At one time I began to feel bad, because my girls felt that I was'nt giving them enough attention. Well, for starters I set time aside for just me! I know that when I get on the computer I would be here for hours so I made this "me time." And late nights are usually good for me. However, if I need to get up the next morning I won't plan to get on the computer until another, or the weekend!
Hope this helps....

try to spread the amount of time that you're online. a couple hours in the morning, a couple in the afternoon. It's not good for your eyes to stare at teh computer screen for too long.
Also, dont go online too late at night. you will be too pumped up to sleep. get of the computer an hour before you plan to go to sleep and perhaps read a book?

I think it depends on what you are doing online. If you are working on an online business then I think its fine. If you are married or have a girlfriend and you are online flirting or if you are looking at porn you definitely need to stop. I suggest finding a new hobby that involves people that you can see, talk, to face to face and touch or find a sport to watch or do.

just step away from the key board. if it's harder than that you may need to go talk to someone about this problem. two or three hours a day is not bad. sometimes it takes that just to answer e-mails and pay bills. so maybe you are being too hard on yourself
