I just read a study showing that women with epilespy who reduce or stop these meds have an increased risk of seizures, which you know can harm the baby. Please please seek help from a specialized neurologist or psychiatrist before you make a decision to stop the medications. Some MDs will tell you to stop taking it, but you must weigh the risks/benefits. Don't go by some "list". Talk to a specialist. Best of luck - P.S. I know hundreds of women who had healthy babies on these meds but I also know a few who did have problems.

Lamictal is in the FDA pregnancy category C. This means that it is not known whether Lamictal will be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not take this medication without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment.
• Lamictal passes into breast milk and may affect a nursing infant. Do not take Lamictal without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
This is where I got that....

There should be a leaflet or insert in with the medicine, and it'll tell you if it's harmful to a developing baby, or even if it's secreted in breast milk. There is also a pregnancy catagory, "A" being no problems, going down to "D" which could be dangerous to a fetus. If it has no information, then it's better to be safe than sorry, and you'll have to stop the medication. Best of luck to you.

If in doubt throw it out. The manufacturers can't be certain on any of their products. Look at all the birth defects of the 50's and 60's. And who is to say that learning disorders aren't caused by some prescription drugs.

You should ask the dr. Unless there is someone on here who is an expert on these sorts of meds, you should really consult the dr. I would think he would want you to stop taking the meds before you get pg. Better safe than sorry. GOOD LUCK!!
