Uh... I wonder where people get these "names", most of them are not even vaguely Finnish.

"Tunay
Tune'
Tunae
Tunea" <- None of these is Finnish, even less Finnish names.

"Tauny" No, not Finnish either.

"Hubby is finnish... He said it is spelled:
T-U-E-N-I" <- Well, either you misunderstood him, or then he's pulling your leg. That's not a Finnish name.

"Tueni...my fathe-in-law is from Finland..he has a cousin name like that..it sound like tooney" <- I think we must be talking about some other country now... Believe it or not, that's not a Finnish name. Try to google it, or if you're not convinced, learn Finnish and search http://www.suomi.fi/suomifi/suomi/aiheet/asuminen_ja_rakentaminen/vaestotiedot/index.html (and "Nimipalvelu" from there). There you can search all first (and last) names of all the Finns, and see how many of them are. For all those of you who don't speak Finnish, I made the query and paste (and translate) it here:

Nope, no Finns called Tueni. I think you could mistake that one with "Toini" ( http://www.sci.fi/~kajun/finns/Samples/toini.wav ), which is a Finnish name (mostly for women, but there are also a few men named Toini). But that name doesn't sound too much like "tooney" to me, and it's quite an old fashioned name and not too widely used anymore (well, there has been 7 baby girls named Toini this year, so it could be possible, but I doubt it).

"Tyyne is pronounced "tooney"" <- Now that one actually is a Finnish name. But I don't think that's pronounced "tooney", go ahead and listen: http://www.sci.fi/~kajun/finns/Samples/tyyne.wav .

I personally would suggest "Tuuli" http://www.sci.fi/~kajun/finns/Samples/tuuli.wav , that one was quite popular name for a baby girl a while ago.

I hope this helps.

ADD:

I tried to answer your message, but yahoo said that your e-mail address isn't confirmed... whatever that means. But my answer was something like:

"Yes, I agree with you, Tyyne sounds something like "Tune-A". That is a quite traditional Finnish name and used for a long time, so it's well possible that this is one of the names you are looking for.

The list of audio files about Finnish names one of the other answerers mentioned could be useful to you, http://www.sci.fi/~kajun/finns/female.htm are all the female names listed there... You could try other names that begin with T and have a double u afterwards... Tuuli and Tuula are used quite a lot, Tuula being more traditional one."

But if you would like to message me directly, my yahoo id is the same as my answers id.

The only name similar I found to that was "Tauny" (pronounced Tawn-ee) and it didn't have an origin.
