Everything and anything can effect a period. You can be in the middle of a cycle, and get into a car accident or have emergency surgery and your period might start because of the trauma.
By that same logic, it could also be late for those reasons.

Being sick can throw your hormones out of whack, just be patient, your period will start in a couple of days. If you have been throwing up a lot, you are probably dehydrated which will prevent your period from starting. Once you feel better, it will go back to normal.

Well normally when someone is sick with the flu, they don't eat as much ,s o you prob. lose a little weight, and have stress, stress and losing weight can cause delay of your period!!
