Natural Family Planning is a great method to avoid or plan pregnancies. I know a couple who used it for 6-7 years and avoided a pregnancy, and then used it to get pregnant. More information about it is available on the links I am including in my sources box.

I would give a third recommend to the Mirena IUD. It's good for 5 years and once it's in you don't have to worry about anything else.

Mirena IUD works great. It's good for up to 5 years. I've had it for a year and absolutely no complaints.
