I had one to have a look at my womb etc. It didn't hurt but I had pain in my shoulder from the gas they pump up your abdomen with so they can get a clearer view. Pain killers like ibuprofen or paracetamol will sort that out. Don't worry it will come out in the form of farts! Not one huge one though, just a few at a time. I was in and out the same day but I would take a day or two off though as you will have a general anaesthetic and may feel groggy a bit and the shoulder pain might hurt, though it don't affect everybody. Also you don't want to be farting in work :D

I had a laparoscopy 8 weeks ago to check for fertility problems. The procedure didn't hurt as they give you a general anaesthetic. When you wake up you will have two lots of stitches (very small and normally dis solvable) a couple in your navel and a couple on your pubic bone. If they are checking your tubes they run a blue dye through them which you will pee out for a few days but it doesn't hurt. As others have said the pain in your shoulder is worse from the gas they pump you with but that goes in a few days. I took a week off work after all it is an operation and you need time to recuperate. Good luck:)

had a laparoscopy to check for fertility probs. Doesnt hurt exactly but the use air to expand the abdominal area & allow them to see better. This can give you some soreness up at your shoulders believe it or not. I checked out of hospital the following day and went straight to work but really you should have 24-48 hrs at home depending on what/why the op is being done. Going back to work was really a mental thing with me as I got bad news and didnt want to sit at home thinking about it & getting upset.

I've had 3 in 5 years and you have nothing to worry about honey-you will be under anaesthetic the whole time.
You will have some stitches and some bruising afterwards but take it easy and you will heal fine.
Your Dr will advise you on all of this at the time, take care. x

Mine was through the mouth to check my stomach for an ulcer. I was put to sleep, and left 4-5 hours after I woke up.
