To research the Black Power movement you should research groups such as the Black Panthers (Huey Newton, Eldrgide Cleaver, Angela Davis), the Nation of Islam (Malcolm X, Elijah Muhammad), other notable figures including Marcus Garvey, Stokeley Carmichael. When researching you should understand that the Black Power movement should be considered seperately than the Civil Rights Movement. Also understand that the Black Power movement of the US was closely related the movement for Independence of countries on the African continent. This African liberation was an inspiring force for the Black Power movement. Good luck!

Read "The Autobigraphy of Malcom X" and Eldridge Cleaver's "Soul on Ice". Look up these names: W.E.B. DuBois, Marcus Garvey, Stokeley Carmichael, Huey P. Newton, Angela Davis, the Black Panther Party, SNCC. This should get you started.
The civil rights movement is the most significant chain of events in U.S. history since the abolition of slavery. Information is not hard to find.
Good luck!
