I suspect my fiance is using drugs?

Question

I have found several suspicious substances and pieces of paraphanalia in my house that suggest my fiance may be using something stronger than pot. What symptoms would someone exhibit if they were using crack or Ecstacy?


Okay, let me elaborate. I know that he sometimes sells stuff. I don't like it, but, hell, what can I REALLY do about it? Anyway...The other day, when I emptied the bathroom trash, I found a spoon that was blackened on the underside w/ residue on the front side, as well as several pennies that had a hardened residue around the edges. This of course screams CRACK, right? I suspect that he may be using E because of some pills that I saw him with, but don't know what E really looks like. The closest I could find to compare it to on the web was a pill that looks like Klonapin (sp?) I'm just asking what the symptoms of somebody using either or both of these drugs may be.

Would either of these substances cause one of his eyes to swell and twitch? And his mouth...I know it sounds stupid but his lips look "redder" than usual...or maybe his teeth whiter? I don't know how to describe it exactly. His mouth just looks different. As far as sex goes, I've been sleeping in the spare bedroom and pretty much been giving him the cold shoulder until I figure out how I want to approach the situation. Yelling at him won't work, it will just make him more defensive

Hon, your boyfriend could be experimenting with anything. But if you are asking us what he should be acting like....then that indicates to me that he's not acting like you think he should, should he be high on crack or meth or e. So if there is a burnt spoon I would guess more like heroin. Has he been more withdrawn, and tired, and not with it? Pot smokers tend to like the effects of heroin. Pills can give you that too.

Why bother trying to figure out what he's susposed to act like and deal with it? You already have the evidence that he's using harder drugs. Tell him you know, and you want him to get help. If he downplays it or makes it your fault for sneaking around and finding him out, then I would say "see ya!" Girls that dont' do drugs but hang out with guys that do drugs or sell them are usually suffering from low self esteem or self worth. Empower yourself. You deserve better.

He is definately using something if you found the blackened spoon! Now i've seen dope fiends(Heroin users) use these type of utensils. Now he could be freebasing this is Smokin Crack from a spoon. I've nevetr heard about the penny but girl he is using drugs and ectasy is a pill. If he's smokin Crack he will have a distant look in his eyes. If he's on ectasy he will be very calm and loving. And if he's on dope he will be noddin out at all times!!! you go figure!

I can tell you from direct experience about this. My ex fiance (my son's mother) basically ruined all our lives by getting involved in crack and herion.

The spoon is, no question about it, herion, or some kind of injectible drug. It may be that he's shooting cocaine, but probably not crack, due to the physical molecular properties of the substances (i.e. - crack is a freebase, a smokable substance, while cocaine is a hydrochloride salt, and therefore injectible).

Now if he's shooting cocaine, it should be relativly obvious in some sense. He'll talk a lot about nothing important, and quickly. He'll move around quickly, etc. I would suspect that he's probably shooting H. That is a lot trickier. I got fooled for quite a long time.
Herion users can really hide the fact that they're using drugs, and are excellt liars to boot. You can never really trust someone using hard drugs in my opinion. Their priorities are all screwed up. My ex is really a good person at heart, but things got so terrible for all of us.

She did 7 months in jail, and now I just found out yesterday when she came to spend some time for Channukkah that she's STILL using that stuff. I have custody of our child, but I really feel terrible for him. The recidivism rate for addicts is really bad.

Before you really ruin your life, I would rethink the wedding. I really really hate to say something like that, but I mean it is just from my experience.

Ecstasy is another ballgame, that he can quit and probably won't be a big deal. Things you burn on spoons are a totally different ballgame.

Also if he's selling stuff like that, bad news.

And I'm really a tolerant person I think. I'm no angel I smoked pot for 10 years, did acid and mushrooms, and really liked all that, but there's a big difference on the effects on somone's life and their family between those substances and herion/cocaine/crack.

Really a true addict can hide any addiction from you. You should really have almost no idea what's going on besides these things;

Weight loss
Sickness - If it's herion, he'll get sick a lot, it's from not having it when he needs it
moodiness/or mood swings -totally Dr. jeckell and Hyde

Also they'll forget about things too, like the spoon you found. You'll have to decide for yourself if you want to start searching his stuff. My ex gave me permission when she was trying to get clean one time, and I've used that to find all kinds of stuff. She hides it in her car, in pockets in her clothes in the closets, in her purse (I know he doesn't have a purse).

sounds like from what you described hes shooting meth or heroin. If hes on either one of these it should be insanely easy to tell. Does he sometimes stay awake for very long periods of time. Does he have little to no appetite? Does he have needle marks on his body from shooting up? Does it seem like he crashes hard or comes down from the drugs? If hes doing X chances are he'll get more touchy feely when hes on it and wants more contact. It would also just give an overall good physical feeling and a relaxed mental state. But it can also increase your core body temprature until it kills you in addition to eating holes in your brainstem that are unrepairable

I really don't know the symptoms but I do know this. Life is too short and you need to take care of yourself (and children if you have them). Don't wait for things to start disappearing in your house before you figure out what you already know....your man is using drugs (though the spoon and pennies sound like heroin or maybe crystal meth to me, not crack - crack is usually smoked in a pipe or in with the pot).

The bottom-line is, you need to know for sure. You can outright ask him and even if he lies he'll know you've noticed something. But I want to say also that your statement of "what can you do really" about him selling drugs, you can do a LOT! That is your house too, if you don't want him selling drugs out of your house, then tell him to knock it off, he doesn't then you may have to be the one who leaves. It just depends on what's more important to you. Good luck.

i dont think that was crack. a blackened spoon is a BAD sign. he could be shooting up. u would notice if he has trouble sleeping, dark circles under his eyes, change of appetite. things like that. also try to look at his arms for needle marks. but not all people shoot up at the arm. also look at his pupils. on crack ur eyes look all glazed over and u got a crazy look. on E ur pupils are BIG! ur whole eye looks black almost. hope this helps u out!

A spoon blacken under the bottom is sign of heroin.. check his arms for needle punctures and hands. Crack users have pipes, they use soda cans to get high... Check his finger tips if they have dark brown spots its crack...

I think you have all the evidence you really need with the spoon in the bathroom and the knowledge that not only is he already an illegal drug user, he's also a pusher.

You have a lifetime of heartache in front of you if you choose to stay with this loser.

Of course your bf is doing drugs. Probably anything he is selling and then some. What are you doing being involved with this loser? He needs help and you need a new strait boy friend. Get out of the mess your in before your life is ruined.

E makes you chew your tongue and grind your teeth. It makes you sensitive to touch. I'm not sure what Crack does to someone beside kind of speed them up.
