I would because child rearing is the most important job a parent can have, I would also make sure that I was getting some education while I was staying home to make sure you have something under your belt in case the relationship doesn't last.

i'm not married but i am a single parent. so, i'm going to approach this from that point of view.
My first question to you is, what are YOUR priorities? Forget what your friends or folks on this board says, what is important to you? And don't just think short term.
Staying at home:
Pros - Spend quality time with the kids. They get to know mom, understand things a little better and there's always someone there for them incase something happens.
Cons - Little to no social life, save soaps and telephone (or internet). Strong urge to use shopping to fill in the emptiness.
Going to work:
Pros - Job satisfaction. More money in the kitty. Social events.
Cons - May hate the job/boss. Hard time handling kids and work schedules. (don't they just grow up fast?)
If life were easy....we wouldn't have booze.

$ 500 dollars a week ... sounds good to me ... I was doing it for free with my ex-husband ... lol ... I'd actually rather work then stay home with a bunch of kids all day ... cleaning & cooking ... that doesn't sound like a fun job to me ... it's too emotionally draining to be a stay at home mom ... you're life pretty much revolves around your kids & your husband ... I myself like having a social life ... talking to grown-ups ... and enjoy " me time " ... but since you threw in the $ 500 dollars a week - I could play house for that ... !

Does day care and housecleaning plus $2000 a month equal or less than what you are making at work now? and will you be able to find someone else who can do all those things correctly?
What type of conversations do you have with your husband now? Is it important for you to have a little of your own life to accentuate the life you have together? (I find this the most important)
DO you love what you are doing at work and if you leave for a while will you be able to go back?

I agree with the child rearing thing. That is the most important job a person could ever have. There are many studies out there that suggest that children with stay at home mothers benefit greatly from this in their lives and development.

I would definitely do it:) That's all sure but if I work my behind off in the house each day it doesn't give you the right to come home and mess it up like you have a live in maid either.

I would keep my happy *ss at home and take care of my kids. I am not to keen on the whole telling me to stay at home, I would prefer he asked, but I would jump at the chance to stay at home and raise my kids.
