No, as they can reach lengths of 10-15". A 100 gal would be minimum for 3 of them. However they require salt water (brackish is okay for babies), so make sure you read up on establishing a SW tank, beforehand.

Uhmm.. Archer fish arent Salt Water fish, they're brackish... They live naturally in mangrove swams and coastal rivers...

I even doubted myself for a moment Zoe, but you're the only person I can find who claims they're adapted to "Salt Water" and that this would be anything but unecessary for the keeper to expect needing in order to care for archer fish. As you yourself mentioned a 55 gallon SW tank can run in excess of 800 dollars. Why are you giving 800 dollars worth of misinformed advice?

Yes, they'll need 100 gallons for 3, but no they definately do NOT need salt water. Brackish yes, they're not exactly the type of fish you'd see swimming around with clownfish or toadfish.... Though I'm sure it would make a very interesting 20 minutes of entertainment.
