A baby breast fed on demand is also unlikely to need additional water. However, if your baby becomes constipated, offer cooled boiled water between feeds. If the weather is hot, feed baby more often. Mum should also ensure she also has plenty to drink.
What to do if your formula-fed baby is constipated:
If your baby is getting enough fluid and you are sure that the formula is being prepared correctly, offer small amounts (30-50ml) of cooled, boiled water between feeds.

Babies under the age of 6 months do not need anything except formula and/or breast milk. A small amount (an ounce) of water that has been boiled and then cooled to room temperature will not hurt a newborn, but it is not necessary. Babies get all the water they need in formula (which is made with water) or breast milk (also has a high content of water). Juice in a sippy cup can be introduced about 9 months, but save citrus fruits and juices until after 1 year old.

Newborns should not drink anything else besides formula or breastmilk. Small amounts of water should only be given on hot weather days. It fills up the stomach leaving less room for what the baby really needs which is formula, or breastmilk - the best baby food.

Newborns under the age of 6 months should have nothing but formula or breastmilk. They don't need additional water. Water in formula and breastmilk meets their hydration needs. They lack adequate digestive enzymes to be able to tolerate much else. Offering solids before this age increases their risk for developing food allergies.

Why do you want to give formula, BREAST IS BEST LOL!!! No a baby's stomache is designed to have breast milk only for the first 6 months (and I mean BREAST MILK only ie no water or vegies or cereal or anything else) I am a Registered midwife and am amaized at the things folks want their babies to eat or drink, If you give formula give formula only for 6 months, I don't caree what the Nestle or Cadburies or Babies Own companies say or advertise.

Yes, they can drink water but don't use that as a subsitute for formula. Don't put sugar in it. They give the babies water at the hospital when they are first born. Ask your doctor if you are not sure. That's the best thing to do!

My daughter is a twelve months. And replaced into formula feed. newborn could desire to have 2-3oz each and every 2-3 hrs! they can help comprehend whilst they're hungry. My daughters dr additionally mentioned that in the event that they pass 4 hrs without bottle reason they're slumbering then you definately could desire to wake them up and feed them!

Yes: Breastmilk.
(BTW, it's both healthier & cheaper than formula! Plus, no bottles to clean or prep!)

At birth, sometimes they are given sugar water. However, they do not need anything but formula/breastmilk.
