Well generally that is true but of course everyone is different so you cant say thats 100% true I have known girls who are serious gamers that play all day and are waiting in line all night for the next console.
And of course there are some professional female gamers out there as well.

That may be true to a certain extent, however I think that that is a stereotype. Many people assume that to be the case, but their are a lot of girl gamers out there. And not all girl gamers are into so-called "girly" games either. I actually get quite offended when people assume that because I'm female I'm not interested in computer and video games. It's not true of everyone. Not all guys are interested in gaming either!

Girls are into gaming just as much as boys but I think girls have more self control and actually turn the games off from time to time and get out of the house.

It depends on the game. Most girl gravitate torward fighting games. Most women do think it's kiddie and tend to look down on guys over 20 who play video games. I never did care so I continued to play and if they did not like it he could get the f***k out. I'm lucky my girlfriend likes to play any game from fighting to sports. She just can't get into role playing games. To all women out there if your guy is into video games play along with him and he'll appreciate it. Don't worry about beating him neather. My girlfriend can kick my butt in Soul caliber and Mortal combat.

I know my grandsons are all into video games. The girls would rather be on the phone or the computer.

yes.. but mostly it is because of culture and the lack of girlie games compared to boy's games.
To girls, expecially in west hemisphere culture, playing games is dorkie and nerdy. When they are obsessed with being popular, playing games is the least in their list.
Plus, most of the game developers are male dominant.
That is why you see many of the character in the games are girls with inaccurate anatomy (i.e: some excess in the chest department ^_^)
