The question isn't , Do you believe in a woman's right to choose? I believe in a woman's right to choose. In fact, everybody has free will and free choice to make decisions. When people make this mistake and answer this posed question with whether you believe in a woman's right to choose, you aren't really answering the question. Instead, you are changing it some sort of women's rights issue. What many fail to do is look at the moral issue of abortion itself; most just look at the ramifications. Most people fail to even discuss the morality of abortion itself.

Is it morally wrong to have an abortion? This should be the question posited here. No matter what the consequences or circumstances one may be in, that should be the main question. The act of an abortion can't be good for some people and bad for others, precisely because the act of an abortion is the same in every situation, it is an act of abortion.

When we look at the morality or abortion, we can say that it is the taking of human life. Most scientists agree that a heartbeat starts very early in the term. A rock does not have a heartbeat, so therefore something with a heartbeat must be an animate thing. But it isn't some other mammal that woman are carrying around. We don 't do scans and see a puppy in the mother's womb. It has to be then, what we consider a human life.

Now the question is, "Is it morally wrong to take a human life through an abortion?" It isn't the means of a better or a more planned life; it isn't the means to get around some situation; abortion is the end, and that end is the taking of a human life. So we need to get away from answering this question like its a woman's right to choose and be specific, asking in reality whether the procurement of an abortion is moral.

Take from this what you will. Hope it helps.

I believe that abortion causes regrets. If you are considering abortion, do not be fooled into believing that it is the easy way out. A lot of women become depressed and suicidal after an abortion. If you are pregnant, listen to your heart and believe that you will be a great parent with the support of your friends and family. I do not believe in judging others.

Yes, I definitely do.
It is the parents fault, not the baby's fault.
So many people who have miscarriages and are infertile, wish that they could have children, and sometimes it takes years until they actually get a child through adoption. No matter how tiny that little embryos cells are, it still has a spirit. Abortion is horrible, and disgraces me. They even snap babies necks right when they are born, to "abort" the baby- actually KILLS-the baby, but they call it abort, or as early as a few months inserting it with saltine to make it burn to death, there are many sinful ways! They are all sinful ways. Abort is such a strong word, you can abort a planes trip in bad weather, abort a baseball game, abort -demolish a building, but what if someone decided to abort you? Not right, it's like taking a gun and shootting someone. "It" is called a human being. Abortion pisses me off.

I am pro-choice. I believe that if a woman is violently raped (and I know ALL rape is violent) or if it at the risk of the mother's health, then yes, you could get an abortion. But at the same point, I don't think I could ever do that.... If I were raped and had a child, I would either deal with the whole situation and greet the new angel, or give him/her up for adoption to a loving family, who would never look at that child thinking of the rape.... I believe everyone should choose under those circumstances, but I personally don't feel that I could ever do it....

Life begins at conception (the meeting of the sperm and egg). If it did not, then how could animals that "lay eggs" (as opposed to carrying their young like humans do) be laying an egg that eventually hatches--if there was no life in the "fertilized egg," then no new life would be found if the egg is cracked open. But we know that there is life in such an egg. Therefore, we can know that even though we as humans do not lay eggs, there must be life at conception since animals which do lay eggs experience that same beginning in life. Science backs this up--even before a "fertilized egg" implants in his/her mother's womb, that baby has a gender. It cannot be a male "lump of cells," right? That does not make any sense. A lifeless lump of cells has no gender.
That having been said, we should then ask is there ever an occasion where the taking of a life is permitted? The answer is yes. There are three cases of which I know where the taking of human life is permitable.
In a justfiable war, for example, it is permissable for a soldier to take the life of an enemy soldier. An example of this is WWII--American soldiers were required to kill soldiers of the Third Reicht in order to save and free the people being mercilessly killed in concentration camps.
The death penalty is permissable in cases where the offender is still able to cause more harm or hurt by remaining alive. An example of this would be a small, remote, African village where a person has gone on a murderous rampage and is likely to kill again, but there is no way to keep such a person behind bars or prevent him/her from killing again.
Finally, the taking of life is permissable in cases of self defense. In general, however, the argument goes something like this: the desire to remain alive (self-preservation) is a good and natural desire. This good desire must be brought about by justifiable/moral means. It is called the "principle of double effect." As it applies to abortion, it would say that in cases of endangerment to the life of the mother (lets use an ectopic pregnancy as an example), it is morally permissable to remove part of the fallopian tube with the baby in it in order to save the life of the mother SO LONG AS the intention of the mother and the doctors is to save the life of the mother, and their intention is NOT to kill the baby, but that the taking of the life of the baby is an unintended consequence (allbeit, a consequence which was known to be going to happen by the nature of the procedure). In other words, the intention of the actors defines the morality and permissability of the act.
Note also that the evil which is being avoided (the death of the mother) is as grave as the foreseen negative consequence (the death of the baby). If the mother's general health is at stake and her life is most definately NOT, it is not permissable to take another's life for her general convenience and comfortness. These are not equally grave matters.
I hope that makes sense! Feel free to repost and ask me to clarify any points I tried to make above. Thanks for reading and God bless!

I am prochoice...so I believe that it is all up to the woman. I cannot judge her for what she chooses to do with her body and what is in it. We considered abortion (I did for about a moment before I saw him on the ultrasound at 9 weeks)...bc this was an unplanned pregnancy, and I was on the pill...so I was taking pre-cautions. However...we live together and planned on getting married...so it became a harder decision. Being that I am 27 years old, and do want kids...I went with my heart and choose my child. It was the right decision for me, but does not mean that it would be right for another woman.

There is only one judge in my opinion, and that is God. You have to make the choice that is right in your heart and make a choice you can live with. If that choice is abortion...I will not judge you but would help you anyway I could!!!

i only believe it to be acceptible if the monther was raped or the baby is going to have a poor quality of life because they are severely diabled. Any other circumstance i say no to. A childs life is a blessing and should be protected. Me and my fiancee are having our first in march eventhough we arent really prepared as hes still in uni but because we dont believe in abortion we kept her (found out it was a girl 3 days ago!!). We go by the motto if you can make it you can take care of it!!

No, it is human life and has the right to live as stated by John Locke "Life, Liberty and Estate." Also, why does the government count double murder if you kill a pregnant woman yet abortion is not murder?

I believe that you as a woman has a right to do WHATEVER You want. It is your body, your decision and noone should tell you otherwise.

Ofcourse there are situations where I don't agree that certain women use abortion as a form of birth control and that is just sick.

But like I said..its your body your choice and right as a woman
