Your premises are all wrong.
"Our" phones and internet activity are not being intercepted if we're not talking to foreign terror suspects.
The activity is not illegal if it is part of the President's war powers. In fact, there's a better argument that the Congress' FISA law is unconstitutional to the extent it limits those powers.

The President's War Powers have not been invoked, since Congress did not DECLARE WAR on terrorism. His actions are illegal. The NSA never admitted to any wire-tapping until it was leaked. We now know that the NSA is saving ALL telephone and internet data traffic for data mining. The terrorists have already won, since Bush so easily made a mockery of our Constitution and his oath to uphold it.

No, I do not agree that tapping our phones and internet activity is keeping us safe. This violates the Fourth Amendment of the Bill of Rights. I feel they are using the fear of terrorism and another terrorist attack as an excuse to further erode our civil liberties. Once the government starts to ignore the Constitution and overstep its boundries, who is going to protect us from the government.

You know that a little research and a lot less dependence on a liberal biased media while forming an opinion or learning a fact , would help some look a lot less ill informed when asking an opinion filled question. How silly you are......... If your phone and Internet are being scrutinized by our government it is being done for the sole purpose of protecting US citizens from terrorist and terrorist sympathizers. No Domestic wiretapping has taken place only International... So now begs the question .. Why does it bother you??????

I'm not comfortable with it at all. I'm a U.S. citizen born and raised right here and I don't like it one little bit. If this is what our government feels is keeping us safe, then I think we must all be terrorists. This is what Russia and Germany did, spy on their own citizens, we see what it got both of those countries. It really makes no difference what we feel, our government is going to do whatever it feels like doing, legal or not. If typing words like, bomb, anthrax, fusion, fission or whatever brings the government to my house, I only hope they bring coffee and cookies with them. I thought illegal search and seizure was against the law, what do I know?

I think that it should be made legal, all they have to do is get a court order and they do not even want to do that. It is not right to just do it, as it does take away our right to privacy. The thing of it is they can do it post facto and still be legal. I see nothing wrong with wire tapping if it is done under the guide lines of the law but the way they are doing it is not right and is subject to abuse. The question is do you trust the government to do the right thing with the information that they get.

It's not illegal. Your government passed laws allowing for it. I don't think it will keep you guys safe from terrorists. Nothing will keep you guys safe from terrorists,,,,you have waaaaay too many enemies. And as your government continues to abolish your civil rights and freedoms, you will have many more enemies within your own country.

it would keep us safer from terrorists but we all can defend ourselves from a real outside threat, once it manifests itself...we may take many more casualties on American soil in doing it, and all Muslims would be suspected, maligned and persecuted in our defending this land...the rule of law would be tempered in this everyday defense because people would just do what had to do....if the government reduces our liberties to protect us, we would never really know if they are doing anything other than controlling us...we may be safer from terrorists, but we would never know really and these laws inserted to protect us would remain forever.

Well I dont think anyone is okay with "illegal" wiretapping. The question was if what was going on was, in fact, illegal. Turns out it wasn't so there wa s nothing "illegal" about it.
