220 gbs of hard drive space, 1gb of ram, and I'm running Windows XP. I also have Photoshop loaded on computer. My problem arises when I want to stream video or go to websites likes MySpace or internet radio and it takes time for the screens to download and the music comes in spurts instead of just playing. What's wrong?

I am running yahoo dsl. I want to upgrade it to pro but I 'm being told I'm not close enough to a Central Office to receive the upgrade.

Lots of possibilities:
1. your connection speed (r u using dialup or even a "slow" broadband?)
2. Your processor speed and cache size (Is is a multiGHz processor?? or an older one??)
3. your videocard - this has a very important function in streaming video
hdd and ram size are just a part of the complete equaton AND I am sure that there are other important factors as well.

Hard disk space has nothing to do with streaming video per se. I mean if you have no hard disk space left than you may have an issue.
In addition to a RAM ugrade you may need to upgrade your video adapter
Last, if you have a dial up connection, this would greatly affect the performance of viewing streaming video.

First, verify with ASUS or Google your motherboard so yhou understand how plenty and what form of RAM to purchase. 256 Megs is working XP on the ragged side, and you particularly choose a a million Gig. in case you place a million gig on there, you need to make certain the laptop equipment overall performance improve immensely. because is an Athlon XP, I discern it is going to take DDR memory, the old stuff. yet do verify. Open your field and take a verify out the Asus mb, and get the call and version. Google it and locate out how plenty ram and what style. that's the 1st subject i could do. you will no longer loose XP by using changing out or upgrading your RAM. i could additionally DEFRAG your frustrating disk, in all possibility yet one greater reason. purely by using fact there is not any longer plenty on your laptop does no longer mean it won't be able to get clogged with hundreds of thousands of ineffective old downloaded HTML records, jpeg's etc. So get carry of a unfastened utility called CCleaner (google it) and freshen up your laptop.
