Because there is really no point of trying to boost someones self-esteem, when it's already exceedingly low, all you're going to do is make them wonder "Are they lying to me?" and they're going to end up contemplating suicide because of your empty compliment with no truth behind it. Thanks for highering the percentages of suicide.

It seems like the art of the compliment is dead. Rarely do people say nice things with any sincerity anymore, it's just a simple way to come across nice or caring without actually having to earn it. And it's very sad.

I compliment people because it does help boost their self-esteem, if even for that moment. If a person knows you as someone sincere and polite, then they have little reason to doubt your complimenting them.

No I complaiment people because I want to. If they are mean then I do not and if they are depressed then I lend an ear and shoulder does not cost me a cent.
