I have taken care of many kinds of fishes and yet the Fighting Fish seems to be not my forte (they do not last for more than 3 months on me!). I place my Bettas on an adequate large jar. What should I feed my Betta? How not to stress it?

Bettas don't belong on jars... they need heat and filtration, or they don't live very long.

Get a tank that is about 5 gallons, with a smaller filter, and a heater. Bettas are from Thailand need water temp of 78-80F. They also, like all other fish, produce ammonia. A jar does not have a filter, so the ammonia just sits there in the water. A tank can be cycled (google Nitrogen Cycle) and the ammonia can be eliminated. You still need weekly water changes, but the water will be far cleaner.

Do that, and your betta should like for 3+ years :) You can also plant a tank that size, and bettas love plants.

Well you should try putting the betta in a tank that is more long than tall such as a 2.5 gallon that you can get at a pet store. Make sure there are plants and things to hide in. You can also get a fern at a pet store and its soft so it wont hurt the bettas fins and they like to sleep in it. Make sure you be careful when using tap water. If you do use tap water use a water conditioner and let it age for 24 hours before putting your betta in it (this allows the chlorine to evaporate and also for the water to reach room temperature so when you put your betta in the water it will be the same temperature as the old water.) Also you should feed the betta a variety of foods. If you dont want to get live foods then you can feed it freeze dried blood worms wich you can get from a pet store. You should feed it betta pellets, flakees, and blood worms for more variety. You should feed your betta every day about 4 pieces in the morning and four at night. also once a week on a certain day you should not feed the betta its regular food and instead give it only a pea for the day. This is good so the betta doesnt get bloated or constipated. Make sure you use frozen peas because the ones in the can have stuff like salt and bad stuff for the betta. Once a week you should do at least a 20% water change. I fill a couple of water bottles with tap water and conditionaer and i have them to use in my fish water for when i do the water changes. If you see holes in you bettas fins that could mean there is to much amonia in the water and you need a water change. Uneaten food should be taken out of the water after 5 mminutes. I hope i helped. :)

FEED Betta pellets stressing it may be from mirrors are if there's a solid object near the tank like a book it may make a reflection like a mirror an it will try fight the reflection and Betta's need oxygen with out it they wont make it very long a good way to keep them going is a plant like a peace Lilly (dont put dirt in the bowl haha) this will also help with feeding they will feed some on the plants roots also gives shelter make sure there is space around the plant for the fish to come up to surfice for air you can put it by a window for a few hours

i have two tetras and i got a two gallon tank with a filter that came with it. i have 2 fake plants and some pebbles in it. i change the water whenever i feel it needs to be changed (after a few months) and i feed them once a day about one pinch of food (i should feed them twice a day..)

I have no experience with bettas but if you treat them good and feed them twice a day and change their water when it gets dirty and change the filter occasionally.. they should probably do fine.

Bettas don't last very long, but my first one i kept for little over 3 years, i cleaned the tank about 1-2 times a month. I fed it every day. I had no heater or filter. i was surprised he lasted that long, but i was glad he did, he was very pretty. I have a few after him and they lasted pretty much the same for me.

i had my betta alive for 1 yr and then felt very bad that it passed away.

i had a nice big jar with some pebbles in the bottom, 2-3 big bamboo sticks and used to clean water every 15 days.

gave good twice a day just 3 drops in the morning n 3 in the evening.

try what i have told u. may be it will be beneficial
