It happens once every month or so and continues for about 30 minutes. It wreaks havock with my door locks and alarm when I am driving because the car thinks the door is opening and closing.
.
The way it comes and goes, it seems like a failing relay or other component rather than a door switch. Most of the time, all door switches work normally and I can't make this happen, or stop happening by playing with them.

Any suggestions??

Yes. I understand that this problem is about as common as finding a yolk in an egg.

If I'm not mistaken the contactors on the door and frame need to be cleaned of debris with an electric contact cleaner to work properly again. They may also need to be adjusted.

This happened to us in a rental car once - I think it was an American car so the source of the problem could be the same, American cars being as problematic as they are. Turns out there was a sweater sleeve caught in the back door so it wouldn't close all the way. We moved the sweater and the problem was solved! Hope this helps!

Most of the time, it's a dirty connection at the sliding door. There should be a set of contacts on the door post. Try lightly, lightyl sanding or roughing with emery cloth or fine sandpaper and then clean with rubbing alcohol.q
