Heat won't come on automatically..I can set the thermostat at a higher temperature than the thermostat says it is in the house and it will come on then BUT it goes directly to AUX heat..so I "assume" I an not getting stage 1 heat. The outside condensor fan is the one running constantly..yes it will run when I call for heat..go directly to AUX heat and then when the heat has reached the appropriate temperatue the heat shuts off and the fan continues to run until I switch the thermostat to the off position. The air coming in is not super cold but not even warm just room temperature. The main house breaker box has a 60 Amp double breaker,(the one buzzing).Breakers aren't popping or loose just buzzing every two mintutes when that fan on the condenser runs. Sometimes when I call for heat it may be 40 degrees out or it may be 65 like today...always the same results.

Sounds to me that your compressor isn't starting... The reason it kicks into aux heat right away is because the thermostat is set higher than what the heat pump will accommodate, so the backup electric heat will come on... The reason your breakers are buzzing is because the compressor is trying to start but can't.. A compressor will draw alot of power in the initial start phase, but should even out when it gets running... But your compressor is trying to start, but won't and trips an overload that is inside of the compressor... It usually takes a couple of minutes to reset automatically, and tries to start the compressor again... That's why you only hear the breakers buzzing every 2 Min's or so... There could be either 1 or 2 problems with your unit... Either the compressor is bad or the start capacitor is bad... You can also try installing what is called a hard start booster relay to the capacitor... This give the capacitor extra power to start the compressor... BUT WARNING... The capacitor will hold a voltage charge, even when the unit is unplugged... You have to make sure that you discharge the capacitor before installing the hard start relay... To do this simply use a pair of insulated pliers, and touch both of the 2 terminals on the capacitor at the same time... this will discharge the capacitor...
