Im sure someone who knows what they're talking about will be along soon to answer, but the only thing I can think of is it'll be in the history. Ive just tried it with something I have to put a password in and was on yesterday and it worked, I got back into the account I had logged out of over 20 hours ago!
If thats the case, clear your history daily.

If you don't have your system set to log you off completely and you have automatic sign in...all he has to do is bring up your email program.
If he's computer savvy he can locate your password in the registry or use a program that farms the passwords from the computer.
There are a few ways at least...
Ensure all your cookies and history are wiped off after each use of your browser, if that's how you access your mail and always log out completely and deactivate the auto login.
Other than that...create your own logon for the computer and password it so that you need to type the password in even before you can access your windows screen. Change your password on your AOL to a really convoluted one that consists of upper and lower case letters and numbers....make it lengthy enough that if he is using a system...he'll need some patients to locate it again.

It’s been awhile since I used AOL, actually about 8 years.
A few things to look at.
1,AOL gives you the option of saving your password. Meaning, you don’t have to type in your password to log in. Make sure you enter your password each time you login.
2. He may know your password.
3.Your emails are saved in a folder. The old versions of aol allowed you to read emails you saved or sent offline. You may want to look into this.
4.You should delete all emails you don’t want him to read. In both the Read and sent folders. Don’t forget to delete the Trash bin too
5.What you should do is change your password and do not write it down anywhere. Try to remember it.
6.If he knows your password he can access your email through a web browser simply by going to the aol website.
Your husband must not trust you or just wants to find out whats going on with your friend. Either way what he's doing is illegal and just not right. Kick him in the nutsack and tell him to knock it off.

I could guess a few ways: 1) If he needs a sign-on to AOL then there is a password. If this password is the same as your email then thats one way. If this is an automatic password thats the next one. 2) Parent overview, this feature lets parents snoop into children's surfing habits, emails etc. See if your account if you have two unique accounts is setup in such a way. You can also change your password and ask him to see if he can still get in, if he can then look at 2) again. 3) Key recording software, this is a simple utility that once loaded records all keystrokes typed from an keyboard. I would look into 1 and 2, 3 is iffy unless you notice other accounts being accessed by him.

He can access your email without knowing your password. I don't know an awful lot about AOL but if you sign on to the service with a saved name/pass then he would have access to your email. You may need to setup a new account outside of AOL (like gmail or msn) and make sure your password is not cached or saved. Also you may need to check if he installed a key logger.

Girlfriend, just change your ID name and password again. And when Yahoo emails you your new inforamtion print it out, hide it somewhere and delete the information from your email box. Now go to Tools and delete all files, all cookies and find history and delete anything that's there. You might want to do this every time you go online because your husband has found out how to track and decode your system. Why would he want to voilate your privacy like that? Make sure to use a password with many numbers after the password mane, such as micknopy372957r. Don't use common names or common numbers like your birthday, kids or any family members. Some browsers will automatically save your password for you. Check your settings and see did you mistakenly choose this method. Uncheck it, if you did. I'm sure you will be able to out smart your fox!

He could be using the parental controls AOL uses to help parents manage their kids accounts . He may be treating you like his kid. If he has the main user ID and you are both using the same AOL account. Read up on Parental controls. Then get your own free email account on yahoo , hotmail or www.gmail.com (remember to log out each time). Send this address to your friends that you can trust. More importantly erase your history when you are done for the day. Tools- internet options- clear history . This will clear his history too. AOL may compile your history for him though since he may have it set up that way.
Can you get your own phone line and pay for it separately then get your own service? Good Luck *** oh one more thing --if you set up a free email account be sure to delete any confirmation emails ASAP from AOL account (inbox and trash )or see if you can choose not to provide a current email address when setting it up. I use my Earthlink account for personal reasons with a cute name and I use a generic account with a more professional name for business.

the first problem is that there are still people using AOL. It has the security of a french lima-bean.
You might not know this, but the 'magical mystery picture box' you're looking at keeps a copy of everything that ever appeared on the screen.
Or he could be using a keylogger.

Change the password. If it's password protected he must have found out. I'm with AOL too and no one knows my password.

Hi i run a detective agency and your husband can very easily purchase a keystoke bugging device which monitors and stores every keystoke you make including giving him full access to all your passwords i sell these devices for around £250.00. Maybe you should check what he is up to also.
