Every part of Egypt is fun to visit! I love it here! The pyramids are great, of course, and the National Museum (I think that's what it's called), but try to see some non-ancient parts too. There are great mosques all over Cairo. Ein Sukhna is really nice to spend a weekend on the beach. Luxor is nice for ancient ruins. We're going to Al Fayoum this weekend too. I stayed in the Western Desert for 5 days in October/November this year with Bedouins and it was AMAZING!!! I practiced my Arabic and camped out and explored the Black and White Desert. Also in Cairo Khan Al-Khalili is a great shopping area. Cairo is awesome if you're ready to adjust to major traffic and crowds!! And outside Cairo is good for desert!
Have a great time!!

I just came back from working in Egypt. There are several fun things to do in Cairo (Pyramids, Nile, Cairo Tower) I went to Alexandria and really enjoyed it too. Make sure you go to the catacombs there other than that Luxor and Sharm El Shiek. Try to fine an Egyptian to take you to these places there are two prices in Egypt one for foreigners and one for Egyptians. It is a huge difference.
For the most part it is a very dusty country and they are trying to make it more and more modern. The Egyptians are beautiful people and love spending time with you just getting to know you. It is my favorite country.

A lot probably depends on you. I only spent a bit of time in Cairo, but there could be some night life and good times at the pyramids. Luxor is a somewhat bustling town, with a lot of things to do there. You've got the Valley of the Kings, Karnack, etc. Aswan - lots of stuff there, but didn't seem as hip as Luxor. But, all of those places involve ruins. You could also head to the coast of the Red Sea (Hurgada and such),. Those have beaches, resorts, etc.
