I started my son on cereal right before he turned 4 months, a couple weeks after that at my sons 4 month check up the doctor said I could start giving him veggies and fruit, so I started him around 41/2 months. I started with half a jar a day for a week then a full jar a day a week and so on. Now he is 7 months and eats 2 jars of fruit, 1 jar of veggie, 1 jar of meat dinner and 2 servings of cereal each day.

My daughter is 6 1/2 months old now. She started on baby cereal single grain rice when she was 4 months old. I fed her from a spoon and made sure it was very runny to start. I then gradually thickend it. She started on jarred food around 5 months by mixing a tbsp or so in with her cereal. Now that she is 6 months old she eats the baby food right out of the jar and also she drink 6 oz of juice a day diluted half and half. The doctor said this is fine and shes perfectly healthy.

I'm a first time mom as well. My son is almost 8 months old. I started him on rice cereal once a day when he was 4 months old and jarred foods when he was 6 months old. Make sure you wait 3-4 days before trying a new foods to watch for allergies. I did rice cereal, oatmeal, barley cereal, vegetables, fruits and then meats. Now, he usually has a cereal with fruit for breakfast, a different cereal with a vegetable for lunch and some kind of meat for dinner.

I started my son on one tablespoon of rice cereal in the morning at 5 months. Then 2 weeks later 1 tablespoon at supper too.

My daughter is 3 and 1/2 months and I am going to start her in a month or so.

I never put cereal in a bottle that isnt good for babies.

I started veggies in a jar at 6 months 1 tablespoon cereal 1 veggies. Then fruit short time after. They will let you know when they are not hungry anymore too by turning their head and just not acting like they want it

My last son started jar food at 3 months, but it really depends on the child and when they are ready. He was ready!!! He was already on Enfamil added rice formula, and even had rice added to that, so he started right off with veggies and fruits. By 5 months he was eating 2-3 jars three times a day. That is a lot. But i have friends whose kids didn't start until 5 or 6 months. They started table food really late. My son started table food at 5, 6 months. It depends on your child, and how they are handling the swallowing thing. Follow your babies signs, he'll show you when he is ready!!! Don't "go by the book". Your child may be above and beyond some book rule. If i listened to that, my kid would have been one hungry baby!!
Do what YOU feel is right, not when someone tells you to. Just always let your ped doc know so they have the heads up!
Good luck!

I started at 3 months with cereal in apple sauce, real thin. and he loved it and then we just went with the fruits and the cereal together. and vegetables by themselfs. Just don't over do the food cause they need the milk even more. I'd start off with one jar of food a day for a few weeks and slowly go up.
