I really enjoyed Peter Davison when he was the Time Lord. I liked Eccleston's portrayal, but Tennant, in my opinion, has a firm grasp on the more humorous incarnations of the Doctor (such as Patrick Traughton, Colin Baker, Peter Davison, and Tom Baker)

I like both. They both have their strong points. As much as I like David Tennant I would have liked seeing more of Eccleston. He was a good Doctor.

David Tennant for me. Christopher Eccleston is a great actor, but he didn't give himself time to make a really big impression as the Doctor. He put in some great performances, particularly in "Dalek" and "Parting of the ways", but he didn't stick with the part for long enough to give himself the chance to really shine in the role. David Tennant, although pretty good from the beginning, took a year or so to get really into the role, but in his second series as the Doctor (series 3) he made the part his own to such an extent that he has become almost as iconic in the role as Tom Baker, and put in some of the greatest acting performances in the series 45 year history. So in my opinion, Tennant is not only the best of the recent Doctors, he is on a par with the great Tom Baker, and has only been bettered by the first Doctor, William Hartnell.
