My 18 month old son CAN'T have fruit juices something in them gives him diahrea and makes his little butt break out in open sores(ive been told its the acid in them that occurs naturally in the fruit) i've tried watering it down and giving him veggie juice like V8. I've even tried giving him kool-aid(though i dont care for doing it) just to vary from the milk and water but the gives him diahrea also and the dyes in it turn his stools odd colors usually what ever the color kool-aid is. Am i just stuck with regular ole milk and water or can someone suggest something else

okay i knew i should have added this in the begining we have talked to the dr about it it has something to do with the sugars and acids in the juices its not some i need to look into cause it may be more serious even when i was breastfeeding i had to dramatically change my diet becasue of the sugars ad caffien that were ending up in my breast milk i know water and milk are great for him and like my other 2 boys i plan on that being his main 2 drinks for years to come but he gets really p'oed when he has milk and his brother have juice so i was looking for another alternative to fruit juices

There are flavored waters out there (in grocery stores), but beware because they do have some sugar in them. I'm not sure if this would be a cause of diareah or not, but it might be worth trying. Not to be rude, but there is nothing wrong with giving him the regular ole milk and water. I know it may be boring for him, but they are both very healthy for him and he may be better off for it. Also, have you checked with his doctor about all this diahrea? He's probably just sensitive, but I would just make sure that it's not something more serious. Good Luck!

It's possible that your son actually has an allergy to something in the juices, but more than likely, it's just that his body can't handle the high sugar level in juice well. You'd be best sticking with just milk and water-- it's better for children and they don't need the high amounts of sugar that are present in fruit juices. I have three year old twins and a two year old, and none of them drink juice or kool aid. There's just no need. So, since it is doing more harm than good to try new things, stick with milk and water.

Keep trying, controls diarrhea is usually apple juice and banana.
If your son having stomach trouble of any juices that he takes there's something wrong on his digestion. Observe and read.
First time always experiment. But being first time mom is different you have to get the fact right away. Dont guess go to his pediatrician. They know more on this area. If you still think get second opinion. Goodluck.....

What about gatoraide? I don't think it contains any fruit juice. It tastes a bit like watered down juice. My friend only gives that to her daughter since juices give her diaherra also but she's ok with the gatoraide. She sticks to the clear or light colored ones. Good luck.

Have her instruct you how to provide the pacifier away connect it to a balloon and tell it is going to the babies in heaven. This worked wonders with my daughter, and she or he under no circumstances asked for it returned. For the airplane experience use a sippy cup with juice or milk because of the fact the swallowing is the comparable as chewing gum!

If he is happy with milk and water and is getting enough fluids then I would would stick with just those two because they are the best for him. If you are worried about his fluid intake, I would suggest lemonade (my daughter likes pink lemonade - it is not as tart), flavored water, sports drinks (gatorade, etc.) or pedialyte.
