Pretty much he has lived all his life as a loaner. Avoids social contact unless he has to (business). He has never had any real freinds. He has a B.S. in Computer Science and working on his masters. He puts much more interest/observation in objects and systems then in people. He likes to take things apart and see how they work. He likes to observe how a room is arranged for example and how the furniture is designed. The surface on the furniture the individual dimples in the wood for example. It's like he is detached or living in his own world. Is this normal.....?

There is nothing wrong with this type of person. Sounds like he is an introvert rather than an extrovert, and that is his personality type. Some people would rather work with objects and things than others.

He is an introvert, is possibly clinically depressed and may be autistic. He should definitely seek a professional for evaluation.
