intake, headers, hi-flow cat, exhaust, chip your ecu. i have a 96 ls and if you dont have that kind of spending money, for the time being, you can take the box cover off your stock intake to get a lil more air flow. or you can go open headers to free up some hp but you lose torque

The first step is adding a full racing cold air intake. The type where the intake cone is mounted in the behind the front bumper on the passenger side. A decent one will run you about $200-$250. Since you have a 98 GS your intake manifold is already designed for high flow applications. It is exactly the same as a 98-01Type R B18C5 factory intake manifold so it does not need to be replaced. Your are going to want to get high flow headers. I run DC sports 4 to 1 headers which cost about $220 on ebay. If you care about pollution you need to get a high flow catalytic converter. I run a Jackson racing high flow cat that is a direct bolt on and is about $130 on Jackson racings website. If you don't care about pollution you want to run a test pipe. This will provide you with zero restriction from the engine block to your exhaust. Def need to pick up a high flow exhaust. Standard size is 2.5 inches for the exhaust piping for non forced induction vehicles. Do me a favor and dont get some cheap tail pipe from AutoZone. They sound like s%^& and make you look like a tool. Spend some $$$. I found a Greddy Evo 2 Style exhaust on EBay for $240 or so. The exhaust is made by Yoshimura which makes motorcycle exhausts from Japan. No point in chipping the ECU you are not running VTEC and changing the Air/Fuel ratio and redline is not going to make that big of difference without VTEC to maximize the powerband. I would get a set of large diamater/low resistence spark plug wires and NGK Iridium spark plugs. My roomate ran a very similar set up on his 98 GS and it make some noticeable gains till he swapped his B18B for a JDM B18C. This set up is what I run on my 95 GSR B18C1 and it has made some pretty good gains. If you really want to make some good gains save up your $$$ and either do a LS/GS to VTEC conversion on your B18B block or save up about 6K and do a complete JDM B18C swap.

If you have any other Q's shoot me an email I would love to help. bobby159@yahoo.com

sorry pal.....with out dumping at least a couple of grand into it your not goin to get "maximum about of power" adding intake, exhaust and cat willl only boost your hp levels about 10-20 hp. you will only benifit from this if the car is moderatly modded. if it isnt.....well your just getting a little better fuel milage. without the cash your not really doing much. but at least its a start. personally i would start with the small bolt on crap then work up to either do a swap or leave the block and replace the head with a vtec head. the shop car here is a 89 crx and we took a b18b block and t-sleeved, decked and stoked the block, as well as machined the quench zones out of the head.....were running about 2.3 litres out of this motor........and 26 pounds of boost. just start small and work your way up......you cant have all the power right off the bat. need help or parts my email address is below i will gladly help

there are a number of assets you're able to do to strengthen horsepower yet you need to be careful to apply the main suitable components so which you do no longer finally end up dropping it slow and funds. in case you will use the inventory heads and cam than you're limeted to how huge the carburator and intake you employ. you will in all probability get each and all of the capacity plausible on a inventory 302 with a 2 bbl. carb. in case you place a carb it relatively is in simple terms too huge on the engine you will in simple terms be wasteing gasoline. i desire to advise you study the e book "a thank you to construct Horsepower, strategies for development horsepower in any engine" by making use of David Vizard. it particularly is quite imformative. i offered it Borders Books for $18.ninety 5. whilst it includes development and customizing engines it particularly is terrific to learn as many sorces as you may get your arms on. the terrific strategies will take place in lots of diverse places and in the long-term you have got the terrific engine and capacity for the money you are able to have the money for. NITRUOS isn't the respond. For nitrous you will need sturdy pistons, new conecting rods and a sturdy crankshaft. it relatively is $1500 in components suitable there. so for horsepower on a funds nitrous isn't the respond.

Depends how much money you want to spend. But a good way to go is:

Cat back exhaust
Cold Air Intake
Headers (but be aware that you won't be able to pass smog in certain states)

then a Hondata chip.

Intake, header and cat-back exhaust. Make your engine breath better, and this should improve your HP greatly. Adding my header to my accord was the greatest power increase I had, and I bought it off eBay for less then $250. Good luck and have fun.
