Did you you see the movie, 'Sophie's Choice' starring Meryl Streep? Very sad. She had to do that. If you haven't seen the movie, you must, but get ready to cry, because you will. What about all those poor people in the countries in Africa that are faced with that? OMG, it is terrible there. I saw a program featuring the lives of the people there who have to deal with that & similar situations on a daily basis. Like, young children who are told that they will be killed if they don't kill their own parents. They are terrorized by madmen who run all over their country commiting these atrocities.

What would I do? Absolutely everything in my power I could to physically fight the persons who were forcing me to make this choice. I probably wouldn't win because I am sure I would be outnumbered, but I would die trying to.

Oops, I got carried away & really didn't read or answer the question correctly, sorry. I just immediately starting thinking about that movie and program and started to type.

Let me say that I couldn't make that choice, I just couldn't. I would have to let the situation take its course, yet try to save all of us & hope for the best.

This is the dilemma faced by the protagonist in the movie "Sophie's Choice" with Meryl Streep. Sophie is being sent to a concentration camp when a German officer approaches her and tells her she may only keep one of her children. The other will be killed. As she resists, the officer tell her to give one up or they will all be killed. She eventually gives one up. She survives the concentration camp, but the other child does not. The decision haunts her for the rest of her life.
In answer to your question, I would not choose. I'd let fate decide. if we all die, then that is what was meant to be.

What kind of question is that? No one in their right mind could chose one child over another!

No, I would not. I would attempt to save both children, no matter the consequences.
