you will see your baby but he/she will be small, i think at that stage baby moves around a lot, and you may see little arms and legs. drink plenty of fluids before you go and the image will be clearer too

Hello there, you cannot see a lot as the baby is still very small, BUT you will be able to see the heart beating away in there and that alone is a moment to cherish. You can see more when you go for the 20 week scan as baby has grown and moving about. Will make it more real for you. Hope this helps and good luck with the scan... x

Hi Gina, I had a scan when i was 8 weeks pregnant, my little boy looked like a little frog movin about in my womb!!!
Even though the foetus looks completely different at that stage its the vital one to make sure your baby is growin in the right place.
You won't see everything on the scan but you will see the beginning of your child. Enjoy the moment and congratulations :)

I had a scan at 12 weeks, 19 weeks and 32 weeks. At the 12 week one you'd be suprised at what you see cos the baby fits on the whole screen. I could see the arms and legs moving, The next one was less clear. The nurse told me the furthur on you are the less you can make out so you should see alot.

At my 10 week scan we saw our baby;s whole body and hearbeat. As soon as they put the device to my belly we saw him waving to us. Thoughout the whole test he moves a lot and even sucked his thumb. Although I couldn't see his peter I knew he was a boy from then on because he just looked so happy already. My friend had her scan at 8 weeks and it didn't look like anything at all. No head no nothing a heartbeat inside of what looked like a tadpole. Every woman and every baby is different. Don't be descouraged if it looks funny to you though, as long as the doctor says that there is a baby there and it's growing then just be happy and thankful!

When I had my first scan all I could see was what looked like a bean, this was a very magical bean though! You can make out the outline and see the heart beating. It's so beautiful having a scan and seeing your baby inside of you.

My wife went for her scan at 11 weeks and they were able to zoom right in on the baby. Our scan was very clear and they were able to show us the heart beating.
It really just epends on how the baby is placed on the day though.
Make sure you drink plenty of water before you have the scan as the baby will show better if you do this.
Good luck

I had a scan at 12 weeks and could see 2 arms and legs, the heart, the sonographer pointed out a full bladder and because the scan was 4D at times, I could see the face.

Hi I had my first scan at 9 weeks (I'm now 14) We could clearly make out the shape of a baby. I could see it's head and body. You can make out legs and arms! It's not very big, but still you can see that it is taking shape properly. Very exciting.

12 weeks is normal for a first scan...yes the baby is very tiny but you will be able to make out the shape...spine, limbs,head..quite a lot really. You will be able to see that it is a baby!
