I have a new kitchen range with a drawer on the bottom for storage. I want to store my pots & pans in there, but don't want to scratch the bottom of the drawer. What could I use to line the bottom of the drawer to protect it? I thought about newspaper or shelf liner, but it's aself-cleaning oven & I don't know if the high temp. would be a fire risk with something burnable. Any ideas?

Cookie sheets!

I think thats what they are called... the shallow metal trays used to bake cookies... they would be sturdy enough to protect the drawer, while being capable of withstanding any high temperature. Not sure about what you would be storing in the drawer tho... are all the pot handles oven safe?

If the 'self-cleaning' feature is not automatic, rather, it is something you set the oven to do at a specific time, then you could empty the drawer when running the self-clean cycle. If you do that, then you could put anything you want in there.

You might consider putting a thermometer in the drawer, and check it every few minutes, while the oven does a 'self-clean' cycle, and verify just how hot the drawer does get... that way you would have a better idea of what you can, or cannot, put in the drawer.

Hmmm... I just happened to think of a product I saw on television too.... it was some kind of a 'baking plastic'... pan liners, muffin tray liners, etc.... after baking, you could simply pop this plastic liner out, and flex it, and it would come clean... Im sure the 'kitchen supply' stores would carry this product, and as I recall, it was very flexible, and could withstand oven temperatures. Might be an expensive drawer liner tho, hehehe.

Good Luck

You will not get excessive heat that could cause a fire in your storage drawer. Use whatever material that you want. The bottom of the oven is well insulated and heat rises.
