I have had an interest in mystery shopping (or secret shopping) for a long time. I have tried several online programs, but they all seem to be scams. I was wondering if anyone knows any legitimate mystery shopping companies, or has any advice on how I get started in mystery shopping. I had a particular interest in hotels, higher paying jobs, and clothing stores, but any information is appreciated. Thanks!

They're rarely substantial enough to generate sustainable income.

It's a petty-money making hobby, really.

Many shops pay merely $10-15 for what takes you over an hour to visit (or eat at) then type up a detailed review afterwards.

It's hardly worth it over the long term.

You have to apply to become a mystery shopper at the websites of these market research companies. They will then contact you if they have any assignment in your area. List of companies where you can apply free and links to relevant websites available at http://tinyurl.com/n474j
