Ever watch the news? Nowadays EVERYTHING is bad for you. Things that were supposedly great for you 4 months ago are now suddenly linked to this or that. It's what gets people to watch, it's called scare tactics. Notice how they never say it's proven? It's always "scientists believe" or "studies suggest". They're reporting news that isn't news yet. They are merely speculating on things that haven't been proven. Do you know all those things that apparently cause cancer may just be coincidence between patients studied? If cancer victims showed to have all eaten pizza, does that mean pizza causes cancer? Of course not. Who these "scientists" are, we don't know. Any scientist worth their salt would weigh variables to come to a reasonable hypothesis, not this crap you're fed on the 11 o'clock hour.

You could be eating soooo much worse than cheeseball and crackers...I'd say your doing a fine job balancing your protein and carbs..(see? I even rationalize other people's eating habits) But seriously, youre not stuffing your face full of brownies or cookies...go grab a banana and baby carrots and you'll have a pretty balanced meal...
Food is like men...the bad ones just so much more damn FUN!!!

The answer gets pretty complicated, but just to give you a basic example, fat was a hard-to-find resource early in our evolution.
We need at least some fat to survive, so we came to crave it stronger than easier to find things.
Within a very short amount of time fat has become amazingly prevelent. So now that pleasurable response that built up over time to enjoy fatty foods has turned on us in a way.
