your car will spit and sputter. your spark plugs will get gunk on them. you should drain your tank.

it all depends on how much.......a car will run properly with a gas/oil mixture. but anything over10 parts gas to 1 part oil you should take it in and have the following done.
take it to a repair shop. have them drop the tank and drain all the gas. the gas can be reused.....so do not get rid of it (lawnmower, weed eater, etc....) have them swab the tank with clean towels to get rid of the excess oil that didnt come out. have your fuel filter replaced. now the oil that is in your tank will be sitting at the bottom as the OIL IS HEAVIER THAN THE GAS. so your fuel lines should be fine. you will not have to replace you spark plugs, injectors.....unless your tank is absolutly full of oil. but as long as the gas is still being atomized out of the nozzles and flowing through the system it will keep the oil from building up .....

Depends on how much oil was added, how dirty it is, what weight it was, and how much gas you have in the tank.
If it was only a few ounces of clean motor oil, and you have a full tank of gas, I wouldn't worry too much. Anything more than that, or dirty oil, and you'll need to empty the tank (and probably empty out the fuel lines and carburetor too). You'll get some light gray smoke coming out of the tailpipe.
Oh yes: if you know who did it, hold him responsible. At the very least, he owes you for a tow to a service center, for the fuel system flush, for new spark plugs, a refill of gasoline -- and possibly replacing your catalytic converter.

If I were you and you probably have no idea how much oil was put in the gas tank. I would drain the gas tank completley, disconnect all the fuel lines and flush/dry them out, change the fuel filter. After that start it up and see how it runs. If your engine starts missing or idles bad then fill your gas tank up with fresh gas (preferbly high octane) and add some injector cleaner to your gas tank. If the problem persists then you will have to either change or take off your injectors manually and blow them out if your vehicle has port fuel injection and install new o-rings on your injectors. If it's carburated then just dissasemble your carburator and clean the jets and float bowls. Oh and one more thing either beat the crap out of or talk some sense to the meat-head that did this horrible thing to your vehicle.

Depends on how much oil we are talking about here. At minimum you should siphon all the fuel out of your gas tank and refill it with clean gasoline before driving anywhere. If you've already driven it, there is a fair chance you will need new spark plugs on top of a new fuel filter at the least.
It should not do any catastrophic damage, but the minimum here is to drain the fuel, change your fuel filter and fill it up with clean gasoline. I would also run some fuel injector cleaner through it, like Chevron Techron or similar.

depending how much oil was added, the engine will run a lil rough, and will have blue smoke come from the exhaust until the contaminated fuel is used up.but it really wont seriously hurt the engine, unless you have one of the new engines which has way too much electronics on it. but id figure if its a quart or 2, to a tank of gas, around 10+ gallons, it should dilute well enough to be ran, with just a lil smoking, but should be ok once the oil is run out.

My first thought was "How?" But then I figured it doesn't real matter.
The issue would be; how much?
Less than a quart should be OK if you have a close to a full tank of gas.
Chainsaws, and weedeaters have oil mixed in the gas to lubricate the engine. I've had people put gas\oil mix in lawn mowers with no ill effect.
More than likely nothing will happen. Gas is petroleum based just like oil and will mix together.
Just my opinion............

I hope that it isn't much. The heavy hydrocarbon molecules won't properly ignite in your cylinders (if at all) and will cause your motor to seize. This is very very bad. Don't drive your car to the mechanic - have it towed and have your gas tank and lines cleaned. If there hasn't been any damage done to the motor, you'll just need to put gas in there again, and you'll be fine.

It depends on how much. A little shouldn't hurt. It might foul your plugs, but probably will just burn off. You might see some white smoke from the tail pipe until it's gone.
A lot is a different story. It could ruin your engine. I would drain the gas tank and refill with fresh gas.

you need to find out how much! a small ratio will not hurt the car at all, if the car starts to splutter rev the engine, there will be enough heat in the engine to burn the oil off the plugs,if where talking gallons then get the tank drained

hopefully the fuel filter will get clogged and that's all. but get someone to empty the tank and flush the lines and put a new filter in, the car could die if there is to much oil. it wont explode like gas so the car could die and wont start.
