I like California the most because if you visit in the wintertime, you can go to the beach, visit the snowcapped mountains for skiing, see waterfalls, deserts, rock formations, incredible natural state parks and the Golden Gate bridge and so many other landmarks. It's simply amazing. I couldn't afford a home in CA - but visiting - would be great. I wouldn't want to live there becuse of the earthquakes and wild fires that do occur more frequently than in other states but it's definitely the state that has the most interesting things to do and see all year round. Also right close by is Colorado, Nevada and Arizona!

Alaska is by far the greatest state in the US. There is very little crime and the scenery is to die for. There are mountains and rivers and lakes and the ocean and snow and sun and wildlife galore. It smells better than any other state and it's cleaner and even the tap water out of the faucet tastes better than the bottled water you have to drink in the lower 48. Some nights I would just lay on the ground outside and stare at the sky because it seemed like the stars were just out of reach. Yes I said it! You can see stars in the sky in Alaska because there is no cloud of polution.

Out of all the states I've been to, I like West Virginia and Pennsylvania the best. They're both very beautiful with a lot of natural & scenic areas as well as cultural & recreational things to do. I live Virginia too - Civil War battlefields.

Let's get this straight... you want people who have travelled to the U.S. to tell you which state they liked the best?
In order for someone to do that, they would have to have visited ALL 50 states, in order to give a fair comparison. How many foreign travellers out there do you think have visited all 50 states? For that matter, how any U.S. citizens out there do you think have visited all 50 states?
Another really well thought out question, brought to you by Yahoo Q&A!!

Arizona... it's *close* to snow (in the mountains) and great skiing in the winter, but it stays warm throughout the winter. And there is like 360 days of sunny, clear blue skies every year. When it does rain, it's nice!
