Even as a small child I thought it was pants. It made no sense at all. A human, a gay bear, an even gayer one handed hippo and a zippy-type-thing also with one arm arguing all the time about what Geoffrey should fetch in his girls basket for their tea.

no it was legendary! i wasn't born until til 1983 so never got to fully appreciate the Rod, Jane & Freddy era....dad got me an album from a boot sale when i was younger! loved daddys taking me to the zoo tomorrow...
rainbow must be loved purely for the fact of pink gay george the hippo!

the truth is there wasnt that much kids TV when i was a kid(rainbow time)so i think any kids TV was 'good' ......but looking back it was shite...that rod ,jane and freddie...freaks in multicoloured dungarees, with permanent smiles,two people with their hands up puppets arses and bungle the dithering wreck.......at least Geoffrey found fame again in those Virgin adverts.......
