I have been to many places where people give me cards for their modeling agencies.I live in Cali. so I guess that's probably why! One time it was on a Saturday at Costco! Ya kinda weird! Anyways a good percent of the time mmodeling is a fraud. The first time a talent scout gave me a card I was totally excited like you. My parents also said no. Well after that I looked it up and most of the time modeling people are scamming you. Your mom is saying no for your own good and saftey. Even if you got a good modeling job eventually you would get old and ugly like we all do and they wouldn't want you anymore. So I would forget it.

To effectively argue your point, you need to make a strong case. With parents, this is done with mature supporting documentation. Do some research to determine what it takes to start a modeling career. Are there costs involved? Are there potential pitfalls that you will need to avoid? Put all of this together in a professional looking binder to show that you mean business. When you see something that will be a potential problem for your parents, already have good solutions picked out. You should suggest offsetting all costs with any money you make or even suggest helping out with household costs by contributing some of your earnings. If you want to be a professional, act like one before you make your case. It will go a very long way to impress anybody you are trying to convince.

I am a stunt woman and actress. Don't believe all the unqualified people who tell you how competative it is out there. Listen to people who've been there and done that. Talk to models that are working. Communicate with them and get their advice.

You don't go under the bridge and talk to a bum about how to become successful nor take advice from those who've never made it in an industry that they are unfamiliar with.

It's like asking a doctor how to be a mechanic. Of course your mom doesn't "get it."

If I went to my dad and mom and said, "I want to work in the film industry" - Of course I'd get the lecture that it's impractical and I won't make it because it's so competative.

My desire was so strong that I did everything I could to make it and I did.

It's really up to you. If you are truly wanting to model, you will do it despite what your parents tell you.

It is my understanding that it is very rare for people to be able to make a living modeling. My suggestion is for you to send pics to modeling agencies...you are supposed to send one full-body, one close-up of the face with makeup, and one close-up of the face without makeup. They do not need to be professional. If an agency thinks you have potential, they can see it in regular 4x6 photos. Now if you get any responses, then I would consider approaching your mother again. If you get responses back, your mom with see that you are serious and that you actually have a chance in modeling.

Remember this. Many try it and very few make it. It's a very tough business "Plus" most are done by the time they are 35. Not much of a future. Go to school and become a teacher and help change the world for the better.

persuade your mother, tell her its what you really want to do, a mother can never hold her child back. Show her all the wonder full things it has for you and what good it will do, if htis doesn't work keep bugging her, she cant say no forever, show her all the good things you would get and prove to her that that's what you really want.

Just do it behind her back.

But really.....the chances of you making it as a model are slim to none. Focus on your education and make modeling a hobby.
