Once you're sure its the smell of gas it must be that there is a physical leakage of gasoline. Check all rubber lines under the hood, even tracing the line from the petrol tank located usually somewhere inside one of the the rear fenders. Whatever the cause it's critical. All gas leaks should be handled ASAP

If you can smell fuel, then it is present in some form. It may be liquid, or it may be vapor.
You would be smart to take the car in for inspection and repair.
Your issue could be simply a vapor hose has become disconnected. Or there may be a serious fuel leak.
Considering the volatility and flammability of gasoline, find the cause soon.

it could be a gas leak but id almost say that your engine is running richwhich means that there is more gas then air going into the engine causing a gas smell. but take the vehicle to the shop and have them do a fuel system check, that way you will know for surre
