I found out that I was pregnant back in Nov. and had apply for medicaid and didn't receive my card so I had to wait until I received it, but just got it recently. I called to schedule an appt., but no one is seeing new patients until after the new year, I have an appt on Jan. 17. I am concerned because I haven't been really having symptoms and I went to the emerg. room when I was 6 wks b/c of discharge, but they said everything looked ok with the preg., but I am just concerned and my appt. is a long time from now. Should I just wait until my appt. or go back to the emerg. room, just to make sure everything is okay???

Unless you are bleeding or cramping you are fine and there is no need to go the ER. Its normal to not see a dr for the first time in your pregnancy until your 12 weeks so don't freak out!!
Just rest, relax and you should be fine!! Most women dont have signs or symptoms in early pregnancy.....or even feel pregnant until the baby starts moving.
I suggest joining www.idob.org...its a mesage board with lots of pregnant women who can answer any questions and lots of women who are due the same time as you, so you can go through this together.

most doctors don't see ob patients until 12 weeks since their last period. Jan 17 is a little later than that, but due to the holidays I understand. Most doctors are full and insurance companies including medicaid are screwy in their rules. However if you are have problems such as pain or discharge go to ER. There is not really are symptoms of pregnancy that you must have at certian times. Some women never have symptoms at all except for fetal movement ( that comes later about 16-20weeks). The first trimester is the worse for worrying over everything because you don't feel pregnant. It'll be over soon. Sit back and enjoy it now. Good Luck

I would just wait providing you don’t have any bloody or discolored mucus discharge. If they said you were fine at 6wks take that as a 6wk visit and wait for your Jan. appt. If you are bleeding, sick or having severe cramps then seek medical attention immediately. Doesn’t use the ER for a Doctor Checkup clinic let the needier have your spot. Usually visits are 6-10wks apart anyway so you should be fine! Rests put your feet up and relax. If you feel fine so does your baby! Your baby will give you signs if things are off. After all you do share a body.

It is normal to not feel anything this early on, so try to just relax. Most mainstream doctors don't see you for prenatal care until 10-12 weeks anyhow (when the risk of miscarriage goes down... a backwards practice if you ask me...) so I would keep your Jan 17 appointment.
I didn't have any real symptoms for most of my pregnancy- except being really really tired. I also had reddish discharge around 6 weeks, and everything was fine.
Emergency rooms are expensive! You might try a midwife and see if you can see one earlier than a regular doctor- they tend to be more mama-friendly.

My clinic sees patients for the first time when they are 12 weeks along. It looks like you will be seeing a doctor about 14 weeks, the extra 2 weeks shouldn't matter. If you are not bleeding you shouldn't worry. Discharge can be a normal thing in pregnancy, your mucus in your nose and "down there" tends to thicken up in pregnancy. If your discharge seems cottage cheese like or smells funny, it might be a yeast infection. You may be able to get an appointment to be checked for that before your appointment in January.
Also, if you really want to get in closer to your 12 weeks, is the option to choose a different clinic available to you? I know you mentioned medicaid, and I am not familiar with the rules.

You should go back to the emergency room and find a different Ob/GYN if possible! that's ridiculous they won't see you. It took me a week to have an appointment with mine, but they wanted to see me ASAP! It's very crucial to receive proper medical care in the first trimester of your pregnancy to make sure everything progresses correctly. I would definitely go back to the ER if you have no other options. Maybe you should be firm and explain to people that you HAVE to be seen. I would make it sound like an emergency (although I'm kind of NOT about jinxing myself), but I would jsut tell them like it is. You are pregnant and you need to be seen ASAP! What kind of people will turn you down for that?? I'm amazed!!!
One thing is that I didn't go to the doctor until I was 10 weeks along b/c I had no idea I was pregnant till a week before. So TYPICALLY everything will be OK. But you can never been too sure!
I hope you find someone and they get you in quick! Congrats and good luck with your pregnancy!

Just hang on till Jan 17. YOu can go to Wal-Mart or any drug store and get pre natal vitiamins over the counter so you could start taking those now. If you were checked in the er and things were ok, chances are you are doing well. Eat healthy and do the right things by not smoking or drinking and good luck. O Yeah, CONGRATS!!

You should be fine until your appt, but if something questionable comes up by all means go to the emergency room

You're okay. I didn't get my Medicaid card until I was 10 weeks along. I got to see the doctor when I hit 12 weeks pregnant. As long as you are not bleeding, you should be okay.
