I got a 8mb/s adsl line that works on 450 kb/s download and 45 kb/s upload. lol
My problem is that i share it with my mate. We both use utorrent to download and we both limit our download and upload using dusupercontroller. Each of us is limited at 15 kb/s upload and 200 kb/s download for utorent. This way we still have 15 kb/s upload and 50 kb/s download left for browsing.

My problem is that i can download virtually nothing if my mate is using utorrent. While he gets a fair speed, mine barely reaches 20 kb/s download, even with 15 kb/s upload.

It is not because of seeds/peers or because of port settings.
Some said a small home server would do me good
Any suggestion appreciated.

Are you guys both hardwired to the router or one of you is wireless?
I had the same problem with my wireless connection. The hardwired PC was taking up all the bandwidth, and I never figured out why, just stopped downloading from it, only used the wireless one, which was getting me 600KB/s, more than enough for torrents.

Sorry can't really help you, good question though.

Your computer is slow maybe?

And you say you have an 8mb/s line but your max download speed is 450kb/s and upload of 45? that doesn't compute.

If you download on your own with your mate's system turned off does it still go "virtually nothing?"

Are you sure it's not because of the seeders? They can set the upload restriction too. If they have it set very low, it will cause your speed to be very slow.
