Use the fingernail polish remover, very very carefully. When you have just a sheen of color left, clean the table with Murphy's Oil Soap. There will be enough remover to get the rest of the polish off, but you won't lift the varnish. Just be careful and use a light hand.

I can see where this is going...
VERY Carefully put some nail polish remover on a q-tip, and gently dab at it--you dont want to damage the finish anymore than you have to...
And if it's only a small splotch, you can get some "Old English" stuff at the grocery store (usualy in the cleaning supplies area)--it's a scratch-cover-upper, pick your color and apply.
If it's a big ol streak, you'll probably have to lightly sand it and then refinish it.
Good luck. I spilled red on a hardwood floor and ruined it by going crazy with the remover.

Fingernail polish remover with a little bit of water mixed in so it's not's so strong. Try it first on a hidden piece of the coffee table to see if it stains.

Acetone, however if you have a finished wood surface on your coffee table that will be a very bad idea as it will lift the finish.
