I was spotting last tues and wed. The midwife sent me to the hospital for a scan but as I was only 6 weeks and 6 days they couldn't say for certain. They saw a small sac and did a blood test to check for hcg levels on Friday afternoon. This was then checked this morning again. On Fri it was 3100 and today it was 4500. The doc said she expected it to double and so doesn't expect the pregnancy to continue. I have to go back on Wed morn for another blood test. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you think I will miscarry? Anyone have a similar experience please help.

I can't believe that your doctor would tell you that with only one set of tests!! That doesn't mean you will miscarry!

However, those levels are very low for a 7 week pregnancy. But don't freak out yet. Many women have gone on to carry babies to term with lower levels. http://www.americanpregnancy.org/duringpregnancy/hcglevels.html
