I bought my 2004 BMW 325i 6 months ago. It has 25000 miles on it right now, 5000 of which I put on it.

Last week the clutch "went out". This part is not under warranty!

What would cause this problem? I never scrub when changing gears, it seemed like it would go into gears very easily. I dont get it!

Take the part to a higher authority, The car is under warranty and so is the power train.
The shop has the liability on them to prove what happened to the clutch. and prove that your abilities caused it to fail.I drive clutch vehicles all the time.
My Pantera is a standard and I am not easy on it and the clutch has over 50K on it.
Take the issue above the dealer. Take it to the regional service folks. Or take the car to another BMW dealer. Do not sit on your Laurels on this one. The dealer is not willing to stand behind their vehicle. That is VERY unlike BMW.
Clutches on cars DO NOT go out at 25K unless you burn the clutch I mean smoke it so you can smell it. They are very durable.
This Beamer has a clutch or engine alignment issue.
I would like to know what the dealer said what made it fail. If it is the pressure plate, that is covered, it sounds like a poor clutch was installed. Did the previous owner have issues and that is why they sold it?
Good Luck.

No matter how many miles are on your beamer and how good you are at driving a standard transmission the person who owned/drove the car before you could have wore the clutch out. Also check the clutch master cylinder under the hood and see if it's full of fluid. If it's not then you either have a bad master cylinder, leaking line from the master cylinder to your slave cylinder, or a bad slave cylinder. If all three of those check out to be alright then you will have to get your clutch/pressure plate/throw out bearing replaced. Oh yeah and don't forget to have your flywheel turned out at a machine shop. If you can't do the job yourself then take it to a transmission shop and don't let some shade-tree mechanic do the job either.

BMW uses a hydraulic cluch.
Under the hood, right nex to the brake master cylinder on the firewall is the clutch master cylinder (it's kind of small)

See if it's out of fluid.
If it is, you probably have a leak somewhere.

It takes the same fluid as the brakes. (ie; brake fluid) DOT-3

Clutches do go out - maybe the person that had it before you wore it out.
