As the other folks said, in the next st on your left needle, you knit 1 but don't take the st off your left needle, then you purl 1 into that same st but don't take it off your left needle, then you and knit 1 in that same st and then take it off the left needle. You don't knit those 3 sts together. "(k1,p1,k1) all in the next st" results in an increase of 2 sts.

After that, you purl the next 3 sts on your left needle together. That's a decrease of 2 sts.

After completing *(K1,P1,K1) all in next st. P3tog* you'll have the same number of sts that you started with.

What they want you to do is knit the stitch, but not take it off the other needle, then make a purl stitch in the same stitch but not take it off, then do another knit stitch in the same stitch. You now have three loops coming out of that single stitch. Next you knit through those three loops (stitches) together and move it off the hook. You'll end up with a small bobble.

All in next st. means that you do not slip the stitch off the needle, but continue to knit and purl in that stitch. Knit one, do not slip the finished stitch off the needle, purl one in the same stitch and then knit one in the same stitch. You are making a bobble. Hope this helps.

If I understand it right, what it means is in your next stitch you pearl 3 stitches together. It is just a way to confuse people with the wording. I hope this helps.
