Can you tell me the title of this movie?

It is about an American Officer, who is stationed in Germany, right after WWII.
He marries a German woman, who is a piano player at the restaurant. They have a baby-girl together.
In some time he finds out that she is seeing a local artist, so he takes his daughter, leaves his wife, and goes away to the USA.

In a few years he has to visit that town in Germany, and he sees his ex-wife, she sees him too, and runs across the street to greet him, and gets into an accident…

And so on...

I didn't see it. My grandfather saw it, and loved it. He told me a short story about it. At the end of the movie, a mother, father, and daughter all reunite.

The way he talked about it, it sounded like 60s or 70s movie, but I am still not sure.

Do you have any more information?

It's not an Affiar to Remember or Captain Corelli's Mandolin. The story lines are hardly even similar to what you described.

Sorry I couldn't find it, with the info provided. But now I have to know. Do you happen to remember how old the movie is, and/or any of the stars or actors?

I do not know the answer, but have you tried talking to someone who works in a video store? Some of those people really know their movies.
