My 5 1/2 month old still gets swaddled for naps and at night. She is getting bigger and is moving around a lot more (rolling over). Soon enough she is going to outgrow the swaddleme. Does anyone have any suggestions (that have been successful) on how to get her to sleep without swaddling? The other problem is that even though she can roll over on her own, she doesn't like being on her belly so I don't think she will really like sleeping that way.

I guess what I am asking is if it would be better to let one arm out at a time or just go cold turkey.

The best way is to not swaddler her anymore. There is no other better way. You can try a sleep sack, but they are not too tight. They do pretty much cover them, besides the arms.

Making any kind of change is hard at first, but then it gets better. You may have to deal with less sleep for some nights, but it needs to be done. It would be better to deal with it now than later.

My kids never had a problem getting over being swaddled. Just get a regular blanket and tuck it in so she still feels snuggled up. If she doesn't like sleeping on her tummy that is just fine. Just tuck the blanket under the mattress and that will keep her snug.

Our 2 kids like being snuggled tight when they were infants but they both grew out of it. I don't remember what age they were when they grew out of it as they are 7 and 10 now.
