Arguably in the world it's Liverpool and certainly as far as the UK involved it is DEFINATELY Liverpool for the following ten reasons:
1/ Eighteen league titles (Man United are still just second on 15)
2/ Five European Cups (that's the same amount as all the other English clubs who have won it put together, United only have it twice)
3/ Seven FA Cups (and the current holders)
4/ Seven League Cups (more than any other team)
5/ Three UEFA Cups (and the last British team to win it)
6/ Three European Super Cups
7/ Fifteen Charity Shields (and current holders)
8/ Several managers recognised as the worlds best, especially Shankly and Paisley although Rafa has been even more successful as Mourinho having won two pieces of European silverware (which includes his UEFA Cup with Valencia)
9/ The most passionate, knowledgeable, sizeable (in terms of global numbers), vocal and loyal fans in the world (nothing and no-one beats hearing 50,000 sing you'll never walk alone at kick off). Remember - many fans have tragically given their lives for the love of Liverpool.
10/ A glorious history of fast moving, tough, unforgiving, creative, attacking, skillful and ultimately successful football from a huge list of global (and often homegrown) stars including Keegan, Rush, Barnes, Hansen, Souness, Fowler, Owen, Gerrard, Carragher, Aldridge, Johnson, Dalglish, Mcallister, McManaman, Beardsley, Molby, Nicol, Grobbelar, Neal, Kennedy, Toshak, McDermot, Kennedy, Heighway, Lee, Thompson, Yeats, Clemence, Moran, Paisley, Liddell, Stubbins, Forshaw, Lacey AND THE LIST GOES ON!
The likes of the manks and the Chelsea boys will have a go but they don't come close on silverware, history, class or future potential. The only competitors to Liverpool in the class of best football team are Barcelona, AC Milan, Real Madrid and Juventus.

I'm sorry... I am a little confused?
I thought this was a serious football criteria... NOT comedy?
I mean who let 'the clowns' on who answerd the goons?
I can be funny too, Listen to these 2 side-splitters... 'ARSEne Vinegar' and ('Block-head') Van Persie are not nonces (ha ha). And this 1 will have you rolling... ARSEnal can still win the championship! :-))
But seriously, I would have to say... the 1970 Brazil world cup winning side (1st), the 1988 'Dutch' European championship winners (2nd) and the AC Milan side who went 93 games unbeaten (Rossi, Van Basten, Rikaard, Maldini, Baresi, Gullit and Papin...etc) under Capello (3rd)!
'arsenal are the best' "ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha"... "Please stop, I am going to wet myself!

Arsenal because the way they play football that's how it should be played and not just kick it up DA field like lots of other teams.

Lyon all the way. Technically brilliant, but with the steel needed to win. Watch out Chelsea, Juninho and the boys will stop you before you get close to Athens!

Right now, Lyon. They play the game like arsenal, but with some muscle in midfield, and get results as consistently as Chelsea, but do it with style. They've demolished Real in 2 successive seasons, and i think they could be this years champs league winners.
