Hi,
I do not believe Santa Claus is refereed to as Noel.
The meaning of the word is of religious Latin origin, linked to Dies natalis (the birthday of Christ); ie the song,:
The first Noel the angels did say. . . .first Noel, being the birthday of Christ.
The French use the Latin word Noel, which again means:
"The birthday of Christ", . . . . . . . . not Christmas.
Christmas is an American concoction where Santa Claus is the star attraction, with retail stores making a killing with largest sales volumes for their entire sales year.
Without the Christmas buying season, many could not afford to keep the doors open.
Have a Happy Noel, and a Happy New Year,
Darryl S.

"Noel" is French for Christmas. Santa Claus has many other name derivations (St Nicholas, St Nick, etc), but Noel is not one of them.
