You can not "give" someone democracy...that must be organic, from within.

Seeing is how the Sunni's,Shiite's and Kurds are all fighting for control and a place in this govt.....not sure if that can EVER be separated.

Some nations have a "democracy"(though some would argue that they are not a true democracy) but also have religious law.....Israel would be an example of that.

It depends on what type of Iraqis would be left over from the civil war, Sunnis, Shia's, secular Muslims or Arabs, etc.

From what we can already see happening in Iran is that these Middle Eastern countries that seem so religiously or politically extreme actually contain many or even mostly moderate or liberal civilians, most of them being Arab or Muslim, and the ones in Iran are quietly revolting against Amahdinejad and his Theocracy.

Right now in Iraq, however, I think there are equally likely chances for either a Democracy or a Theocracy to be created.

Democracy isn't some gift one nation can give another... It's something passed from people to people... culture to culture. The idea of the US "giving" the nation of Iraq democracy via military force is absurd. The situation in Iraq has been a bad thing since the word go.

By the looks of things, the only 'good' a democracy in Iraq will do is enable the US to have control over their political arena, which will maintain control of their OIL pipelines.

Why else would the US gov't "hire" Dick Cheney's "former" company Haliburton to "rebuild" Iraq. It's an oil thing. It's a money thing. It's a POWER thing.

You're TV isn't telling you everything.
It tells you what the powerful believe you need to hear.

Why some of you think that Democracy is better than theocracy? Why you should push your corrupt system to others?

yea

but a democratic theocracy is better then a what they used to have. And it might work, they won't have to deal with separation of church and state issues

Considering that they have had a democratic style government for over a year now - it appears that the answer is: 'no.'
