i really think women want babies more than men. Men just don't want the responsibility.

I believe that women and men who love one another and are mature enough to accept the responsibility of child-rearing equally want a child. The reason I believe this is because now that I am older and a lot wiser, I have found and met men who want kids just as bad as we do. My brother had a child while he was in his twenties but now that he is 38, he wants another child VERY badly with his girlfriend. When I asked him why all of the enthusiasm, he replied because now that I am older, I am really ready to be a daddy. And some of my co-workers (male) who are in their 30s and 40s really love being a parent and want to add to their families. But when we are in our younger years, I guess it is just not cool to walk around as a guy and say how much you want to be a daddy and have kids. This is just something I have noticed now that I am thirty-something.

I would have to say no. I think that is a big society misconception. I do not want children and I am a woman and I know a lot of women who don't. There are a lot of men I know though that do want families. I think if anyone reguardless of gender want children too young that says something weird. Anyway, I think it is person to person and not gender to gender

Some do, others don't don't.
Generally though, there appears to be more of a desire to procreate amongst women- men just want to perform the act a lot.

Not necessarily. My husband wants to have "just one more" after our daughter's born. I have two kids from a previous relationship, this will make my third. I said after this one, I'm getting cut, burnt, tied, duck taped, sewed shut, J.B. welded, caulked, siliconed, and soldered shut. I thought about adding some WD-40 to that list, but then I realized that WD-40 would make all that come undone, so I said no.

Most women want both. It is hard to have babies without a man, though it can be done...

Generally yes. Women are biologically geared more for having kids. But no generalization is 100% true.
