Go to the butcher at your local grocery store and have them cut you some big porterhouse steaks. My bf hated Omaha steaks and we went to the butcher at Marsh and had him cut some and he loved them. Don't get the pre-cut steaks in the fridges, go to the meat department and have a butcher help you out.
Also get some Dales marinade(white label with black writing) if you can find it and try to marinate the steaks with that. He will be in love with it. Best marinade ever.

Omaha steaks are overpriced. You can get better steaks at a meat market or grocery store. How you cook a steak is very important. Grilling one with the sear marks makes for a great flavor.

Omaha steaks aren't that great, neither are the other mail-order ones. Go to your local organic grocery and get locally grown grass-fed beef. The tastiest cut of steak is porterhouse, but some people like filet mignon better because it is more tender.

I don't think there is that big of a difference between what you get at Omaha and the grocery store...but it depends I guess on the grocery store. I would suggest getting filet mignon as it's the best steak. You can buy tenderloin (which is what filet mignon is) at a grocery store.

Filet minion is by far the best cut in my and alot of other peoples oppinions. It is tender, full of flavor and easy to cook for any skill level. It was the first thing that I ever cooked by my self, they turned out awsome.
Omaha Steaks are not that good and overpriced.
Go to your local Groocery store and ask for their opponion.I filet minion is too expensive go for rib eyes, they are good but have alot more marbeling AKA line of fat running through then, Good Luck! Hope he likes what ever you get.

the super market.also you will need to know what type of cut of meat he likes i personally prefer cuts of steak with a bone those cuts tend be the most juiceist . for example porter house steaks tend to be juicier than other choices without the bone . also some stores offer special order service where you can decide the thickness of the cut.

I think the best steaks to buy are "Black Angus". You can find them in some grocery stores & at most meat markets.

your butcher will have choice and prime meats. Most grocery stores will carry select and some choice. Just make sure you buy prime or choice beef. And stay away from wal-marts meat. Its all injected with water and when you cook it the meat has a gray color to it.Yuck!
